What is a cookie?
A cookie is a data file that is stored directly on the computer or device, for example a smartphone or tablet, that is used to visit the website. Technically, there are two different kinds of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies.

Session cookies: Session cookies only stay in the browser for as long as someone is visiting the website, and they are automatically deleted when the visitor leaves the website. Session cookies are used to record and remember certain settings and entries made by the visitor on the website, for example the choice of a specific language or information entered into an order form. The session cookies used by Danish Coast and Nature Tourism are necessary to ensure an optimal user experience for someone visiting our website.

Persistent cookies: Persistent cookies are retained in the browser until they are manually deleted or expire (the expiry date may be up to two years after the first visit to the site). Persistent cookies may, for example, store information about country, technical platform, operating system and the browser version used to visit the website. Persistent cookies are used to optimise the user experience, ensure a high level of compatibility and collect statistics. Danish Nature and Coastal Tourism uses persistent cookies to collect statistical data about user behaviour on our website and about the number of new visitors and repeat visitors using the site. The statistics are anonymous and do not show any personal data, nor postal addresses or IP addresses.

Is it possible to delete or avoid cookies?
It is always possible to delete a cookie. You do so by deleting it on the computer or device, for example a smartphone or a tablet, that you use when visiting the website. You can also avoid cookies in future by changing your browser settings. The way to do this depends on the browser used.

Please note that when you change your browser settings you will not be able to use all the functions at the websites of Danish Nature and Coastal Tourism, since some functions require your settings and entries to be recorded.
